Privacy Policy
Effective Date: May 7, 2026 Last Updated: May 11, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Mancini Tech Solutions LLC ("we," "us," "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use Patmos, an AI-powered Bible study companion mobile application and the website located at patmosbible.com (collectively, the "Service").
By using Patmos, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Who We Are
Patmos is operated by Mancini Tech Solutions LLC, a Connecticut limited liability company. You can reach us at:
- Email: support@patmosbible.com
- Mailing address: 11 Culver Lane, North Haven, CT 06473, USA
For questions about this Privacy Policy or how your data is handled, contact us at support@patmosbible.com.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide
When you create a Patmos account, we collect:
- Email address (for authentication and account recovery)
- Display name (optional)
- Subscription status and payment confirmation (handled by Apple — see Section 4)
When you use Patmos, we collect:
- Photos you take of your Bible pages (used to identify and study the passage)
- Messages you send to John, the AI Bible study companion
- Notes, journal entries, and study captures you create
- Voice input you record (if you use voice features)
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
When you use the Service, we automatically collect:
- Device information (model, operating system, app version)
- Usage data (which features you use, study session frequency)
- Crash and error logs (to fix bugs and improve the app)
- IP address (for security and abuse prevention)
2.3 Information We Do Not Collect
We do not collect:
- Location data
- Contacts
- Photos other than those you explicitly capture for study
- Microphone audio outside of explicit voice features
- Browsing activity outside the Service
- Any information from third-party advertising networks (Patmos contains no ads)
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide the core Service: identify Bible passages from photos, generate AI study responses, save your study history, sync your journal across devices
- Maintain your account and process subscription billing
- Improve the Service: aggregate usage patterns, fix bugs, develop new features
- Communicate with you: send transactional emails (account changes, security alerts), respond to support requests
- Protect the Service from abuse, fraud, and security threats
- Comply with legal obligations
4. AI Processing and the John Companion
The core feature of Patmos is John, an AI Bible study companion built on Anthropic's Claude language model. When you interact with John:
- Your messages and photos are sent to Anthropic for AI processing
- Anthropic does not retain your conversations to train their models
- John's responses are generated based on your input and a system prompt designed by Patmos
- Conversation history is stored in our database (Supabase) for your reference
Voice features (if enabled):
- Voice-to-text uses OpenAI's Whisper API
- Text-to-speech uses ElevenLabs API
- Voice recordings are processed in real-time and not retained beyond the immediate session
We may update voice providers in the future. We will update this Privacy Policy to reflect such changes.
5. The Patmos Commons
Every John study you complete may generate a sanitized public "breakdown" — a summary of theological insights about the verse(s) studied — that becomes part of the Patmos Commons, a public layer of biblical scholarship attached to each verse.
Commons contributions are anonymous by design. Public breakdown entries do not include:
- Your name or email
- Personally identifying information from your conversation
- Private journal content
- Voice recordings
Before publication to the Commons, breakdowns are filtered to remove personal application sections, names, and other identifying content. Commons entries are credited to "John (Patmos AI)" — never to individual users in v1.0.
If you delete your account, your private data is permanently erased. Public Commons breakdowns generated from your studies remain in the Commons (they were anonymous from creation and not associated with your account).
6. Sub-Processors
We share your information with the following service providers as necessary to operate the Service:
