Patmos in Claude

Patmos runs an MCP server. MCP is an open standard that AI assistants like Claude use to connect to outside tools. Once you add it, Claude can read passages of the King James Bible and the Berean Standard Bible and search their text, so a verse it quotes can come straight from the text.

Add it to Claude on a Free, Pro or Max plan

  1. In Claude open Customize, then Connectors.
  2. Choose + Add, then Add custom connector.
  3. Name it Patmos Bible, paste this address and press Continue. https://patmos-api-production.up.railway.app/mcp
  4. Choose No sign in, then Add.

The Free plan allows one custom connector.

On a Team or Enterprise plan

An owner adds it under Organization settings, then Connectors, and each member then presses Connect.

The tools

  • get_passage returns a passage in the King James Version or the Berean Standard Bible. The King James is the default.
  • search_bible searches the text of either translation for words.
  • search_kjv searches the King James text for words.
  • list_books lists the books of the Bible in either translation.

All four tools only read.

Try asking

  • Using Patmos, show me Psalm 23 in the King James Version and in the Berean Standard Bible.
  • Using Patmos, find the verses in the King James Bible that mention a mustard seed.
  • Using Patmos, list the books of the Bible.

About the text

The server carries two translations. In the King James Version, where printed Bibles set the divine name in small capitals as LORD, the server returns it as Lord. The Berean Standard Bible text is the one published at bereanbible.com, word for word, so the 16 verses that text leaves empty have no text here either.

Privacy

There’s no account and nothing to sign in to. The server keeps no account or reader data, and its host logs requests and IP addresses as the Patmos privacy policy describes.

If something doesn’t work

If Claude can’t connect, check that the whole address was pasted. If a passage doesn’t come back and it isn’t one of the verses the Berean Standard Bible leaves empty, write to support@patmosbible.com with the passage you asked for. You can also visit the support page or go back to Patmos.
